Never in my life did I ever think I would be living in Joburg, South Africa. But here I am.
I’m just a 6,7-ft. human who recently moved to ‘The City of Gold’. Originally from Cape Town, I decided one day to venture away from my home of 31 years, to branch out and see what is going on in the rest of my country. So I sold everything I owned, threw my clothes in my car and hit the road.
The transition from Cape Town life has been interesting, to say the least. The first things that usually come to mind when thinking of Jozi are hijackings, meatheads with tribal tattoos, dolls from Sandton that say, ”Haaaaaaaaasit” instead of howsit, Boksburg, Soweto, Ponte Tower, and did I mention meatheads with tribal tattoos?
But the longer I have stayed here, I have come to realise that Joburg is actually pretty mooi and the people that inhabit this crazy city are really welcoming and friendly.
By day I work in advertising and by night, I write. The purpose of this blog is to document my experiences while on this journey and hopefully influence and entertain my audience in some sort of way. I’m interested in people, conversing with them and experiencing cultures that are foreign to mine. My journey starts here and then we’ll see where life takes me.
